CANON: Lioness Quartet by Tamora Pierce
AGE: 26
CANON POINT: Lioness Rampant, fourth book in the series, before Alanna comes home from the east and things go down.
BACKGROUND: Tamora Pierce wiki link...only some of it is relevant but there we are.
INCENTIVE/FIT: Ok here goooesss: George would prefer to do most stuff for himself. He also knows Alanna, who he super cares about would never forgive him if he did anything for her she could totally do. In addition, he is really not cool with raising people from the dead. So that leaves pretty much one thing he can do for her, which is save her stupid twin brother from his stupid self. And, y'know, maybe stop Roger from whatever he's doing at the same time: bonus. Basically, Alanna killed Roger when she was 17, and then her so-clever-he's-actually-dumb twin bro, Thom brought him back from the grave to prove how great a sorcerer he was. Unfortunately, this tied them together magically and now Roger is slowly killing Thom of a magical fever and there's nothing anyone can do. Now, while George doesn't know the precise details, he knows Thom fucked up, and he doesn't give enough of a shit about Thom to let him hurt Alanna by letting himself die for his own pride (as shown in series by him completely ignoring what Thom forbade him from doing and telling his old magic prof to come and help). So he'd ask for Thom to get cured of whatever the hell magical thing he's gotten himself into.
As far as fitting in, George is an open and friendly sort of dude who can work his way into a lot of groups so I imagine he won't have much trouble on that front.

ANYTHING ELSE?
George has the magical power known in his world as 'The Sight'. Basically, it not only augments your actual vision, but allows a person a sort of heightened observation: the ability to tell if someone is nearby, to spot magical ability, to see if someone is aided by the gods. He would probably make an amazing detective if he wasn't the King of the Thieves in Tortall. Anyway, I doubt that kind of power will need much toning down but you can let me know. I'll be making a permissions page so people can tell me if they think their character's magic would prevent his Sight on them anyway, as in his canon, he can't See much about people with the Gift, save that they're nearby or that they have magic.
As far as weapons go, he'll want to have his sword but that's less important than--I hate to do this--an unreasonable amount of daggers. How many is he allowed? He keeps at least six on himself in canon and he'd probably want spares... He's a terrible Rogue.
